Benjamin HILL (AUS) ‒– ATTAQUE TEAM GUSTO became the 1st Winner of
the 1st Tour de Tochigi and finished the 3rd of the last stage

 

The 3rd Stage of the 1st Tour de Tochigi started in Yaita City Hall and finished in Kiyohara Central Park in Utsunomiya city, Tochigi, finally with clear weather for the first time in 3 days.
The last stage course first started the uphill course heading to the King of Mountain point which is set at 14km from the start. Several attacks were attempted by each team, but no one could be off the bunch.
The top riders who crossed the KOM point were all competitive riders,

1st:Benjamin HILL (AUS) ‒– ATTAQUE TEAM GUSTO (Green Jersey Wearer),
2nd: Salvador GUARDIOLA (ESP) ‒– TEAM UKYO (1st Stage Winner),

3rd:Egoitz FERNANDEZ AYARZAGUENA (ESP) ‒– TEAM UKYO,

4th: Maral-‑Erdene BATMUNKH (MGL) ‒– TERENGGANU CYCLING TEAM (2nd Stage Winner) and steadily got the points Some riders were off the peloton in the downhill after the KOM point, but the peloton soon absorbed them. Some attacks started on the flat course after the downhill while heading to the sprint point called Hot Spot. The gap between breakaway and the peloton was 25 seconds.
At the sprint point, Yuzuru SUZUKI (JPN) ‒– UTSUNOMIYA BLITZEN crossed the 1st, then the 2nd: Jai CRAWFORD (AUS) ‒– KINAN CYCLING TEAM and the 3rd: Jose Vicente TORIBIO ALCOLEA (ESP) ‒– MATRIX POWERTAG. Once the last bunch caught the peloton, Daiki YASUHARA
(JPN) ‒– MATRIX POWERTAG attacked, but the peloton quickly absorbed him.
Ryu SUZUKI (JPN) ‒– BRIDGESTONE ANCHOR CYCLING TEAM and Sho HATSUYAMA (JPN) ‒– BRIDGESTONE ANCHOR CYCLING TEAM tried to break away the bunch, but were caught by the peloton after 3-‑4 minutes later.
ATTAQUE TEAM GUSTO started to control the peloton and Julien AMADORI (FRA) ‒– INTERPRO CYCLING ACADEMY attacked just before the feed zone and BRIDGESTONE ANCHOR CYCLING TEAM chased this attack. The peloton was back to form the bunch again and past 45km point from the start.
At 46km point, Manabu ISHIBASHI (JPN) ‒– BRIDGESTONE ANCHOR CYCLING TEAM made a solo attack and it was considered not to affect the General Classification and the peloton didnʼ’t chase him. ISHIBASHIʼ’s attack marked the maximum time gap of 2 minutes and continued until the last 5km.
Once the peloton caught ISHIBASHI, Genki YAMAMOTO (JPN) ‒– KINAN CYCLING TEAM attempted a breakaway, but soon was back in the peloton and head to the finish line.
The story was happened at 500m before the finish line. Some riders in the front group went to the wrong course and were crashed. Yuki ISHIHARA (JPN) ‒– TOCHIGI SELECT TEAM took the front and Green Jersey Wearer, Benjamin HILL (AUS) ‒– ATTAQUE TEAM GUSTO was positioned right behind ISHIHARA, heading to the last straight course in front of Kiyohara Central Park.
Yusuke HATANAKA (JPN) ‒– TEAM UKYO, Egoitz FERNANDEZ AYARZAGUENA (ESP) ‒– TEAM UKYO and Bejamin HILL (AUS) ‒– ATTQUE TEAM GUSTO competed the bunch sprint and crossed the finish line almost all
together.
The photo finish judged that Egoitz FERNANDEZ AYARZAGUENA (ESP) ‒– TEAM UKYO who has just joined the team this year won the last stage of the 1st Tour de Tochigi and his team mate, Yusuke HATANAKA (JPN) ‒– TEAM UKYO was the 2nd.
The 3rd finisher, Benjamin HILL (AUS) ‒– ATTAQUE TEAM GUSTO finally grabbed the GC Winner of the 1st Tour de Tochigi, as well as Point and KOM Winner.
Atsushi OKA (JPN) ‒– UTSUNOMIYA BLITZEN has kept the U23 Winner and showed the local team pride.
